Brian Lewis (AM) Rules

TERMS OF CONDITIONS


1. The Brian Lewis Cup is a scratch 36 hole foursomes medal competition. Incorporated are Gross and Nett Prizes for Morning and Afternoon Rounds and for Combined Rounds.
2. Play shall be in accordance with the Rules of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the Club Local Rules and the Competition Rules.
3. Entries shall be made via the SHUGC website and fees must accompany the entry. Entrance fees will not be refunded except for those entrants who have intimated a scratching received before the closing date for entries, or those who have been balloted out.
4. Entrants must be of Amateur Status as defined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.
5. Entrants must be a member & have his handicap administered at a SHUGC affiliated Golf Club, i.e. his home club.
6. Should they enter, the County President and the Church Stretton Captain and their respective partners will be guaranteed a place.
7. The Competition Committee may refuse any entry without assigning any reason for so doing.
8. Approx. sixty pairs shall be allowed to compete. In the event of applications exceeding this number, entries for the higher handicap competitors shall be decided by ballot which shall take place immediately after the closing date for entries.
9. The Committee reserve the right to fix and/or alter starting times. In the event of play having to be abandoned/postponed the Committee reserve the right to amend the rules of the competition.
10. Competitors shall be on the first tee at least five minutes before their starting time for each round. Any pair absent from the first tee when called upon will be penalised as per R&A rule 5.3 after ten minutes they will be disqualified.
11. Pairings, at their discretion, may change their order of play at the start of the second round and at the start of a play-off.
12. In the event of a tie there will be a sudden death play-off to determine the Cup Winners. This will take place over the designated holes 1, 2, 3, and 18. Ties for the Silver Medal and prize vouchers will be awarded on the 36 hole scores on a card countback over the last 9, 6, 3 and 1holes of the last completed round. If a tie still arises it shall be decided on the last 9,6,3,or 1 holes of the first 9 holes of the last completed round. If a tie still arises, each of the preceding rounds shall be treated in the same way (taking each round in reverse order to that in which they were played) until a decision is reached. If players still cannot be separated, the prize will be shared. AM & PM trophies will be shared if ties cannot be resolved on similar countback. No competitor will be allowed to receive more than one prize voucher.
13. Any questions or disputes will be dealt with by the Administrator or the Championship Committee on the day, whose decision shall be final. If the Championship Committee is not satisfied with an explanation for a breach of discipline the competitor concerned will be debarred from entering or taking part in any SHUGC event for such period as the Committee shall decide.
