1. The Championship will be a scratch 18 hole individual medal competition for men aged 55 or over before the day of the event. Incorporated is the Senior Team Championship. Included will be Scratch and Handicap Prizes for age groups 55-62, 63-69, and 70+.
2. Play shall be in accordance with the Rules of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the Club Local Rules and the Competition Rules.
3. All players wishing to enter must enter On-Line at www.shugc.com. Entrance fees will not be refunded except for those entrants who have intimated a scratching received before the closing date for entries, or those who have been balloted out.
4. Entrants must be a member & have his handicap administered at a SHUGC affiliated Golf Club, ie his home club.
5. The Competition Committee may refuse any entry without assigning any reason for so doing.
6. In the event of applications exceeding the available places, entries for the higher handicap competitors shall be decided by ballot which shall take place immediately after the closing date for entries.
7. The Committee reserve the right to fix and/or alter starting times. In the event of play having to be abandoned/postponed the Committee reserve the right to amend the rules of the competition.
8. Competitors shall be on the first tee at least five minutes before their starting time for each round. Any competitor who is absent from the first tee when called upon to start will be penalised under R&A rule 5.3 then after 10 minutes will be disqualified.
9. In the event of a tie there will be a sudden death play-off to determine the Senior Champion. This to take place over an appropriate number of designated holes to be published prior to the commencement of play. The other prize vouchers will be awarded on a card count back over the last 9, 6, 3 & 1 holes of the round if a tie still arises it shall be decided on the last 9, 6, 3 & 1 holes of the first nine holes of the round. If the players still cannot be separated the prize will be shared. No competitor will be allowed to receive more than one voucher.
10. The Senior Team Championship will be won by the Club producing the lowest combined score from any two players. In the event of a tie, the Club with the lowest aggregate score of the 2 counting players for the last 9, 6, 3 & 18th holes will be declared the winner.
11. The Championship will be a qualifying event for handicap purposes.
12. Any questions or disputes will be dealt with by the Administrator or the Championship Committee on the day, whose decision shall be final. If the Championship Committee is not satisfied with an explanation for a breach of discipline the competitor concerned will be debarred from entering or taking part in any SHUGC event for such period as the Committee shall decide.
