Wrekin's Brittain wins Burdass

Wrekin Golf Club players took the honours at the Burdass Trophy with a fine win by Jamie Brittain, 2nd was Kris Williams and 3rd Will Burrows.

The County Spring Trials proved a successful day for Wrekin Golf Club with their players taking the first three positons. Overall winner was Jamie Brittain with 69-69 for 138, 2 under par, followed closely by clubmates Kris Williams on 139, and Will Burrows 141. The leader after the first round was Oswestry's Sam Litchfield with a 3 under par 67, but after suffering some putting problems he could only manage a 74 in the afternoon to finish 4th on 141. Andrew Porter of Hawkstone Park made some quality shots in a fine afternoon round of 69 to claim fifth place.

Will Burrows excellent performance has been rewarded by his selection for the County Second Team away against Nottinghamshire on Sunday 13thy May. We wish Will and the team well.

The Henlle Park course was well prepared for the event, giving enough problems to the players whilst encouraging a good quality field to give of their best.

The next major men's event is the Amateur Champiosnhip to be held at Lilleshall Hall on 10th June and entrry forms are available to download from the SHUGC Website.
